Oh vintage straws....they are so beautiful and yet so delicate.  I have had this black straw in my stock pile for years and years but couldn't decide what to do with it.  I finally realized it was too limp to make a larger hat out of and blocked it into this great button beret shape instead.  A dramatic yet light feather was a given to balance out the heaviness of the hat.  The feathers are a mix of ostrich and coque.  I chose to secure this fascinator on a headband that should disappear into your hair but ensure the hat stays in the right place.  One of one for this black straw, she's a special one.  I would love to see this hat at a wedding, the derby, or a special tea.
